What We Do
Kids Co. at John Hay, located at John Hay Elementary, provides a high-quality after-school care program focused on building students’ self-confidence, life skills, and curiosity. In our after-school program, students join us in one of our two rooms: a pull-out space in a classroom for our Kindergarten – 1st graders, and a pull-out program in John Hay’s spacious cafeteria for our 2nd-3rd graders, and another pull-out space in a classroom for our 4th-5th graders. All three of the after-school programs serve as a time for students to wind down after a long day at school. Snack is available upon arrival. Our after-school program is based on choice. Students make decisions to participate in our daily teacher-led activity, indoor free-play, or outdoor/gym active play. A dedicated homework time allows students a safe and supportive environment to get a start on their homework. A group clean-up and evening meeting finish off our day.
Summer Day Camp-Summer of Discovery!
June - August 2019
Our Kids Co. Summer Day Camps keep kids active, having fun, and learning all summer long so come along with us!
Kids will play with friends, create and explore new things, and travel to different places each week.
We are excited to launch our new programs, Kids Co.’s Big Read and Summer Run for Fun. Each day kids will dive into good books and track their progress, and collect “reading” tokens. Summer Run for Fun is our way of incorporating exercise, in a fun way, into our daily routine. Kids will earn “running shoes” tokens and track how far they’ve run, jogged, walked, or even skipped.

Get ready to experience a whole host of sports! This week, kids will stay active, learning about sportsmanship and teamwork through a variety of hands-on games.
Creative Campers - July 8 to July 12
This week is all about the arts! Kids can dabble in paint, create with clay, or find any other number of ways to be creative. Music, dance, drama, and photography will give everyone a chance to find new creative ways to play. Our field trips will take us out to experience the arts around town.
Farm to Table - July 15 to July 19
All about good eats! Kids have the chance to put on their chef hats and create easy, healthy meals. Each day, we’ll create a new menu or visit a cool place like our local farms, markets, restaurants, or bakeries.
World Travelers - July 22 to July 26
Where in the world do you want to go? Join us as we visit far-away places like South America, Asia, Europe, and more. Each day is a different destination as we take a look at the food, crafts, and games from around the globe.
Sights of the Sound - July 29 to August 1 (closed Friday, August 2nd)
The Puget Sound will be our playground this week. From beaches to nature hikes and Native American history to the history of flight, we have so much to learn from places right here in the Pacific Northwest! We’ll explore nearby neighborhoods, learning about history, science, culture and more. So much fun, and only one week.
Inventor's Workshop - August 5 to August 9
Join us for a chance to build and create every day! This week, each child will have a chance to stretch their STEM skills and learn how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math can be put to use in exciting ways. We’ll use Legos, wood, cardboard, and other building materials to start us down the road to great inventions. Field trips will add to the already great week.
Community Helpers - August 12 to August 16
Join us this week in celebrating our community heroes! Activities this week center around firefighters, doctors, nurses, and many other heroes right here in our own community. Kids will practice empathy and compassion by choosing a local charity to support!
Gathering of the Games - August 19 to August 23
This week we’ll play games galore—card, table, playground and more! Kids will have the chance to create their very own games as well as play the great ones they already know. We’ll teach math skills, teamwork, and game strategies and get out to explore places where games are played.
Best Week Ever - August 26 to August 29 (closed Friday, August 30th)
