What We Do

Each day there is a chance for exploration at Kids Co. at Island Park, located at Island Park Elementary. Welcoming and engaging staff are there every day to help the kids discover their passion and build supporting relationships. We offer a low structured morning program with a quiet project, kids choice activities, an outdoor play session, and a communal breakfast snack. Program ends as the first school bell rings and we make sure they are prepared for the day with all of their belongings before releasing them to line up for school with their classmates. Kids are greeted warmly as they arrive after school and enjoy light activities as staff ensure everyone is present and accounted for. Outside play is first on the schedule to release all the energy that has built up throughout the day. We head back inside to recharge with a tasty snack. Snack time flows into educational time which is a chance to focus on homework, reading, writing in journals, or participating in rotating educational challenges. Each day there is a project from a topic kids have suggested or one that staff know will excite our kids. These projects are chosen to inspire wonder, fostering creativity, and/or encouraging STEM perspective. The day winds to an end with kids having the opportunity to have kids’ choice activity centers. Often they even want to help staff clean up and prepare for the next day. Overall we focus on giving the kids the chance to make and learn from their own choices, building a supportive community, and encouraging them to have curiosity about the world around them.

Summer Day Camp-Summer of Discovery!
June - August 2019

Our Kids Co. Summer Day Camps keep kids active, having fun, and learning all summer long so come along with us!

Kids will play with friends, create and explore new things, and travel to different places each week.

We are excited to launch our new programs, Kids Co.’s Big Read and Summer Run for Fun. Each day kids will dive into good books and track their progress, and collect “reading” tokens. Summer Run for Fun is our way of incorporating exercise, in a fun way, into our daily routine. Kids will earn “running shoes” tokens and track how far they’ve run, jogged, walked, or even skipped.

World Travelers - June 25 to June 28 (closed Monday, June 24th)

Where in the world do you want to go? Join us as we visit far-away places like South America, Asia, Europe, and more. Each day is a different destination as we take a look at the food, crafts, and games from around the globe.

Super Sports - July 1 to July 5 (closed Thursday, July 4th)

Get ready to experience a whole host of sports!  This week, kids will stay active, learning about sportsmanship and teamwork through a variety of hands-on games.

Kids Co. Lab - July 8 to July 12

This week is all about the wonderful world of science! Each day we’ll hypothesize, test, and learn about science through hands-on activities. From chemistry to robots and more, this week is about learning fun and new information about the world around us.

Big Adventure Week - July 15 to July 19

Take the road less traveled and find yourself hiking in the deep woods, combing beaches, and exploring new places to go. We’ll draw treasure maps and hear about explorers who traveled to the ends of the earth. Join in the fun game challenges held each day.

Creative Campers - July 22 to July 26

This week is all about the arts!  Kids can dabble in paint, create with clay, or find any other number of ways to be creative. Music, dance, drama, and photography will give everyone a chance to find new creative ways to play. Our field trips will take us out to experience the arts around town.

Nature Unleashed - July 29 to August 1 (closed Friday, August 2nd)

The ground under our feet has powerful things to tell us. This is the week to experience nature unleashed. Discover earthquakes, tsunamis, monster storms and more through fun activities, science experiments, and field trips.

Inventor's Workshop - August 5 to August 9

Join us for a chance to build and create every day! This week, each child will have a chance to stretch their STEM skills and learn how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math can be put to use in exciting ways. We’ll use Legos, wood, cardboard, and other building materials to start us down the road to great inventions. Field trips will add to the already great week.

Farm to Table - August 12 to August 16

All about good eats! Kids have the chance to put on their chef hats and create easy, healthy meals. Each day, we’ll create a new menu or visit a cool place like our local farms, markets, restaurants, or bakeries.

Sights of the Sound - August 19 to August 23

The Puget Sound will be our playground this week. From beaches to nature hikes and Native American history to the history of flight, we have so much to learn from places right here in the Pacific Northwest!  We’ll explore nearby neighborhoods, learning about history, science, culture and more. So much fun, and only one week.

Best Week Ever - August 26 to August 29 (closed Friday, August 30th)

So many good things happened during the summer that we want to do them twice! Expect to find the best of the popular games, awesome projects kids loved, and field trips we never wanted to leave. This is our wind-down week, and we want to have the most fun we can.
