Age Old Question: Is it Day Care or Child Care?
Child care, which is commonly referred to as “day care” is in essence the care and supervision of kids. For many of us who do this work, we use the term “child care” because we provide care to children, not the “day.” There is even a debate whether these terms one word or two words?
Over my many decades of working in this field, there are some that try to draw a distinction between child care and preschool or preK. At Kids Co., our child care programs that serve children 3 to 5 years old are also preschool/preK programs. The preschool curriculum is built into each day. This is how parents/guardians that work or are in school are able to give their children a quality early start to learning and do what they need to do to take care of their family.
Back to the age old question….child care, day care, childcare, or daycare, which is it for you?
Hmm, excellent question! This shall take some pondering. Get back to you soon : )
Hi Susan,
It’s great to see a child care blog. These are so few and far inbetween. The crisis in child care is real and effects everone in our community. Keep your good words coming.
Thanks!
