There is no cost to attend this event. However, in keeping with the spirit of the Patron of Play Award guests will be invited to make a contribution in support of child care scholarships and program enrichments.

2011 Patron of Play Award: The New School Foundation

Founded in 1998 by philanthropist Stuart Sloan, The New School Foundation is a powerful expression of the potent conviction that “every child deserves a quality education and the opportunity to succeed.” Its efforts to champion a more transformative early education model—one that is replicable—found fertile ground at South Shore School in the Rainier Valley. Here, the Foundation purposefully teamed with the full complement of the school’s stakeholders to create the learning environment children need in order to be successful now and in the years ahead.

Such good work and compassionate action is deserving of public acknowledgement and a celebratory party!

The Patron of Play Award

The Kids Co. Patron of Play Award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate outstanding companionship and service in the quest “to provide and advocate for quality child care that enriches and nurtures all children, supporting their success in school and in life.”

Want to know what contributions to Kids Co. help support?

• $30 funds a day scholarship for a school-age child
• $50 underwrites a Summer Day Camp field trip for five kids
• $100 supports science enhancements, such as the purchase of microscopes
• $150 underwrites a week’s scholarship for a school-age child
• $200 funds a week’s scholarship for a preschooler
• $500 introduces fun, learning technologies into classroom, such as digital film making equipment
• $650 funds nutritious meals and snacks for one center for one month
• $800 underwrites a month of care for a preschool boy or girl
• $1,000 funds five months of before school care for one child
