Kids Co. at John Hay
Pre-K Early Learning Program
Monday through Friday9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
The Early Learning Program is open only during the school year and is closed during school breaks.
The most significant learning for four and five-year-old children happens in their personal and social lives. They are finding out who they are, who others are and what it means to participate in a community.
At Kids Co., the environment and schedule is arranged to optimize learning and community with:
- A balanced program of group and free time, quite time and active time.
- A diverse range of learning centers and activities in a self-directed environment.
- Opportunities for the children to share their knowledge, raise questions, reflect upon each other's work and make decisions in governing the classroom community.
- Everyday activities that incorporate pattern, graphs, numbers, print, poetry and literacy.
- Opportunities for children to explore mediums like paint, clay, drama, story and dance.
There is a $50 Registration Fee (non-refundable) as well as a $100 Deposit (refundable with 1st of the month prior notification) for children not currently enrolled in one of our programs. Both are required at the time of enrollment.
HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD?
You can drop by the center to pick up an enrollment packet, a packet can be mailed to you, or you can click here to view enrollment forms online. You are also welcome to visit any of our other centers. Working with kids means a busy schedule, so please call to arrange an appointment if you wish to meet with the Program Director.
SPACE IS LIMITED.
Important Note for Early Learning Program (ELP) Participants:
Our Parent Handbook is a comprehensive resource of information about our policies and practices at Kids Co. For the most part, the handbook includes information that applies to all of our programs. However, some of the information does not apply to Early Learning Program participants. Also, some information regarding the ELP is not included. Please note the following differences:
- The ELP starts the Monday following the first day of school and ends on the Friday prior to the last day of school. Children may be added during the year if space allows. Our normal withdrawal policy as stated in the handbook does apply.
- ELP enrollment is Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM only, part-time (less than 5 days per week) options are not available.
- You will notice Extra Hours can be billed for our School-Age programs. However, due to the age group served in the ELP, it is not allowable for 4 & 5 year olds not in kindergarten to join the School-Age group. Therefore the ELP is school-year, Monday-Friday only and extra hours are not available.
- Our School-Age and traditional Preschool programs offer opportunities for Change of Schedule (meaning switching part-time days). This is not applicable since part-time options are not available to ELP students.
- ELP students do not need to provide a nap blanket or pay a cot fee since the program runs for the morning hours only. A naptime will not be offered.
- The ELP program is based on the Seattle Public Schools calendar and will not operate on non-school days or school breaks. However, Kids Co. may still be open for School-Age programming. See the enrollment form for the specific closure dates.
- Please note that tuition is billed monthly and is based on the entire school year. Only the months of December and June will be prorated to reflect fewer days of service.
