Our mission is to provide and advocate for quality childcare that enriches and nurtures all children, supporting their success in school and in life.Kids Co. History and Program Background
Kids Co. has been setting standards for high-quality before- and after-school and preschool care since 1989. Kids Co. operates eight child care programs on-site at Seattle-area elementary schools. Our centers are fun and enriching places that children love coming to. Each program takes place in the context of a caring and nurturing environment that supports every child's emotional, social and intellectual growth.We take our role in out-of-school-time care very seriously with the responsibility and opportunity we have to help children succeed. After all, kids are only in class for a portion of the day. Teachers at our centers design their program curriculum to suit the needs of the students including multicultural experiences, music and art, sports, field trips, life skills, service learning and homework support. We believe that children are most successful when they come to school ready to learn, have a positive self-image, are fully supported in their social-emotional development and have consistent and nurturing experiences.
We are proud that each of our programs is uniquely designed to fit the needs and interest of the kids in the community it serves. To support each school's academic standards, we work hard to develop and maintain positive relationships with school teachers and administrators to create a seamless environment for the care and education of our kids. Child Care Scholarships
Since we opened our first Kids Co. center in 1989, we have maintained a policy of turning no child away based solely on family income or ability to pay tuition fees. We are committed to making sure families have access to quality child care without placing enrollment limits on the number of children we provide child care scholarships to.Since no two families and no two situations are alike, we consider each request for subsidized care on a case-by-case basis.
On any given day, about 300 kids will attend our various centers. On any given day, more than 30% of those children are receiving child care scholarships. Because there is such a need, raising funds to provide scholarships is our top fundraising priority. This need is reflected in the increased demand and eligibility for, Kids Co. scholarships that we see today.
